Nishiki Market, a covered food market street, is about 4 minutes west of Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station. Pontocho, a narrow stone-paved lane of restaurants, runs parallel to the Kamo River about 5 minutes from the station. The riverside paths of the Kamo River can be reached from Shijo Bridge, just east of the station. Yasaka Shrine stands at the east end of Shijo-dori, across the bridge.
